At Cambridge Resthaven we have a range of care services available
Residents are supported with care and dignity
in the privacy of their own rooms
The atmosphere at Resthaven is relaxed and residents' choice of how they want to pace their lives is respected and incorporated as much as possible. Staff encourage residents to remain as independent as they can, supporting them to do as much for themselves as possible. Our activities team, led by a qualified Registered Diversional Therapist, offer a programme of activities, hobbies, and trips for residents to take part in.
Care Centres and Continuing Care
There are two care centres in the Cambridge Resthaven family - one is at Cambridge Resthaven in Vogel Street and the other at Resthaven on Burns.
Resthaven on Vogel
Resthaven on Vogel is situated alongside beautiful Payne Park, and most rooms have a view of the park or a courtyard. There are 50 'beds' available for resthome and continuing (hospital-level) care. The rooms are single rooms, with two of the rooms large enough to accommodate a married couple or two people who like to share.
Resthaven on Vogel has a Memory Care Unit (Tui) which caters for 10 residents living with dementia.
At Resthaven on Vogel there are premium daily room charges on some rooms. As at 1st January 2024, these charges range from: $0 to $40.*
NEW - Care Suites available
Our care suites are a brand-new addition in the stunning Hanlin Building in the heart of our village. We have a small number of care suites available under an Occupation Right Agreement (ORA) basis. Note: The care suite ORA does not have shared capital gain.
The care suites are designed for people requiring resthome or continuing (hospital-level) care and offer comfortable living in well laid out surroundings that include an ensuite bathroom, electric bed, fridge, and emergency call system.
*These prices are subject to change without notice.
Resthaven on Burns
Resthaven on Burns is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens close to the Leamington shopping centre and the greenbelt. It has 33 'beds' available for resthome and continuing (hospital-level) care, and the Memory Care Unit (Home) caters for 15 residents living with dementia.
There is an assortment of lounges, dining rooms and communal spaces for residents and families to use.
Our rooms at Resthaven on Burns are large, bright and airy, and there are no premium room charges.
Key Worker
At the cornerstone of our care is a personalised approach aimed at developing relationships built on empowerment, dignity and mutual respect.
Each resident has their own "Key Worker" – a Registered Nurse who is the cornerstone of the service provided to that resident, ensuring resident-led decision making. The key worker gets to know the resident and their family/whanau well, looks holistically at the resident’s clinical needs, and is responsible for coordinating care and services in a manner that is decided by and is most beneficial for the resident.
Forming these relationships builds a great sense of community among residents and their families, staff and the doctors.
Assessment for the different levels of care is provided by Disability Support Link.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is to encourage and support residents to remain as independent as they can. We take care of all meals, laundry and cleaning, but if residents would like to do any cooking or baking, wash their own clothes or do their own cleaning, they will be supported by staff to do this.
Dementia Memory Care
Cambridge Resthaven offers two specialised units - at Resthaven on Vogel and Resthaven on Burns.
